Structured Training for Existing Operators

Refining Existing Skills Through Structured Training

If operators already have hands-on forklift experience but lack formal training or certification, this course is designed to help formalise existing skills through structured instruction and assessment. Delivered on-site across Hampshire and surrounding areas, our ITSSAR-accredited experienced operator training is carried out in small groups (maximum three trainees), helping operators refine technique, correct unsafe habits, and develop safer working practices in line with recognised workplace standards.

Key Information About Experienced Forklift Training

Everything you need to know before booking forklift training for experienced operators.

Do You Need a Driving Licence?

A car driving licence is not required to operate a forklift truck unless the vehicle is used on public roads. However, basic driving experience can support control and spatial awareness. This course is designed for operators who already have practical experience but require formal training and certification.

Why Accredited Training Matters

This course follows the Health and Safety Executive’s Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (L117) for rider‑operated lift trucks, helping ensure training is structured in line with recognised UK standards. For experienced operators, accredited training helps formalise existing skills, correct unsafe habits, and ensure existing ability is supported by recognised training and assessment.

Assessment and Certification

Each trainee must complete both a theory test and practical assessment. Successful candidates receive an ITSSAR-accredited certificate, with qualifications recorded on the TOPS register where applicable. This confirms that existing skills meet recognised workplace standards and that the operator can work safely and competently.
